A quizzing glass is a single magnifying lens on a handle that may be held before the eye to scrutinize an object in view, be it a scandalous headline or a handsome scoundrel's visage. Keep a sharp eye on things with this early 19th-century quizzing glass. The frame and handle are exquisitely engraved gold-plated metal. The lens shows some scuffing and wear but still magnifies. A swiveling loop at the base allows you to hang the glass from a chatelaine or guard chain. Circa 1820.

Details.....The glass measures 3" by 1.14". In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on antique and vintage jewelry; we consider it part of the charm.
