This English sterling silver medal fob bears the Ipswich coat of arms, "Per pale Gules and Azure in the first a Lion rampant Gold armed and langued Azure in the second three demi Boats of the third." The arms is depicted in vivid red and blue enamel. Laurel leaves and an arc of blue enamel that reads "Ipswich & District Football League" frames the arms. The back of the piece is engraved: DIV. 1 R.U 1937-8.

The medal is hallmarked for Birmingham, sterling silver and the years 1936-37. It is also signed with a maker's mark for Vaughton & Sons, a silversmith producing out of Birmingham, England. The Ipswich & District Football League was founded in 1896, it changed its name to The Suffolk and Ipswich Football League in 1978. It is based in Suffolk, England. We don't know the team this runner-up medal was presented to, but we do know the 1937-38 league champion team was Orwell Works.
